Monet, the Realist

I came across this painting, Claude Monet's "Rue De La Bavolle Honfleur".  He painted it in 1864, and it was, as you can see, well before his significant works in Impressionism came to be.

It reminds me of some of the earlier works of Pablo Picasso.  Very real, very orderly.  

I guess reality can sometimes inspire the mind discover the abstract.
